Must watch Rajni Movies

This article will have the must watch Rajni movies starting from his early days till Kabali. There is in no particular order and each of the movies has helped Rajni to move on through his career.

The best Rajni action movie for 70% of Rajni fans in Tamil Nadu. This movie also started a trend in Tamil cinema where an action hero will be an silent Hero in the 1st part of the movie and real action starts in the next part.

Watchout for the scene where Auto Driver loses his cool to become action hero. Goosebumps Guarantee !!

Rajni joined Director : Shankar for the 1st time. It was mega Hit. The movie had the word "Grand" in all its scenes. Also, it had all the components of a complete family entertainment. Action, comedy, romance, drama, centiment, etc.

Must watch especially for dialogues, climax sequence and also the acting of innocent Rajni in 1st half.

1st time A.R. Rehmann worked for a Rajni movie. The songs were such a Hit that we can even call Muthu a Musical Drama. This movie was a Hit in Japan and made few Rajni followers in Japan.

Must watch family entertainer. It was 1992 and the some of the dialogues against Vijashanthi was rumoured that it was kept there as reply for "Jayalalitha".

A man's struggle from his childhood to oldage. He dedicates most of his life for the betterment of his siblings but.....A must watch movie for Rajni fans who want to see Thalaivar's other acting face.

Watchout for the intense, emotional and life related dialogues with his wife and Cho Ramasamy.

Combination of legends Rajni+Mamooty + Mani Ratnam + Illayaraja +SPB + Yesudas. Based on Karnan's charecter from Mahabharatham, this movie is a must must must watch for any Movie lover across India.

My personal best among all Rajni movies.Everything about this movie is awesome.

Padayappa - Best punch dialogue movie of all Rajni movies. Also famous for One liners.   This movie created box office record when released. First time in a Rajni movie Female actor got a great role  and great name.

Watchout for the Rajni and Ramya Krishnan encounters and dialogues.

Story         : Novel having same title

Regarded as another master piece for Rajni's acting skills, this movie is must watch movie for his fans
An angry trouble maker on one side and an affectionate brother on other side. Rajni lived the character of handicapped Kali.



Watchout for the famous dialogues starting " Ketta Paiyan Sir Indha Kaali"

Only movie where I can write Genre as "Comedy". When we talk about Rajni, how can we miss K. Balachandar his "Guru". Rajni's attempt to do a complete comedy movie gave him a Hit.

One more complete family entertainer. Comedy in the 1st half and brother centiment in the 2nd half are some of the must watch moments.

Rajni's 100th movie in 1985. During his 1st 10 years he acted 100 movies. In next 30 years till date he has done only 50 movies :)

Watchout for exact resemblance of Rajni as Raghavendrar and his calmness.

One of the major turning point for AVM productions, this movie lived upto the expectation. Taken at a relatively higher budget during that time, movie was a great Hit.

The movie created a lot of legacies for Rajni. Title song for Rajni was 1st introduced.

A new kind of action movie in 1980's. It was a great Hit and must watch movie for Rajni fans. No wonder Ajith chose this movie for his remake.

Movie : Moondru Mugam
 Year    : 1982

Cast          : Senthamarai, Delhi Ganesh, Radhika,Sathyaraj

The Film ran for more than 250 days. Even though the script is not that great, the movie is mostly notable for the famous Alex Pandiyan role and Alex Pandiyan's encounter with Villain Thenthamarai.

Just watch it for the Alex Pandiyan's role and Rajni's dialogue.

Please note : Apart from Alex Pandiyan's role,Other parts are very average.

One of the rare suspense thriller by Rajni. The suspense of the movie is maintained more than half of the movie and it is really a good movie.



Even apart from being a Rajni movie any movie lover can watch this movie as a suspense thriller.

Please note : Till Half time almost an average love story


Also lets talk about two important persons who helped Rajni grow as a Super star.

No 1: SP Muthuraman
No 2 : K. Balachandar

Can you believe SP Muthuraman has directed 20+ movies of Rajni in 80's and 90's.

K. Balachandar gave Rajnikanth the opportunity to enter cine indutry in 70's.



Why I have mentioned these two names in this article is that, these two legends gave us Rajnikanth, who gave more energy , more passion, more moral values and more strength to his fans and lot of people ard world through his movies.

Here when I mean thriller movies I am including only suspense thrillers. Action thriller movies are not included. The list has movies which has a suspense element around which the story revolves until half time or longer.

Dont want to reveal much about the story leaving the readers to enjoy the movie to the fullest.
